What Causes Persistent High Fever?

I just took my 17 yr old son to a minute clinic at CVS. She did a flu and strep. test.... both negative. My son has a fever of 102.7 right now and a headache sometime just in front sometimes he says it feels like a band around his head, this has been going on since tues nite vomiting the first 24 hrs. nothing since She advised to take him to the ER.......what else could be wrong

It seems from the history that your 17 year old son is having persistent high fever.
Persistent high fever associated with headache and vomiting are usually found in sytemic infections like viral infections and bacterial infections.
As of now he requires treatment with antipyretic drugs to control fever and correction of fluid imbalance by oral fluids or intravenous fluids.

Hence I advice you to consult emergency physician for further evaluation and treatment accordingly.
