What Causes Persistent High Blood Pressure Level Despite Taking Valsartan?

I m 43 year old, 195 lb, 6 0 Tall and 1/3/2017 I had a cryptogenic stroke. The cardiologist found I had a small hole in the heart after doing a bubble test that may have been a contributor. Exactly one month before my stroke I has sinus surgery to remove polyps and to help me breathe again, so that may have also contributed. Since all of this my blood Pressure ranges have been high as well as heart rate. Blood Pressure ranges have been up and down on 1/18 134/92 109 resting HR 1/19 134/93 106 HR 1/20 118/93 109 HR 1/21 127/93 90 HR! As you can see its kind of all over the place. I was on Lisinipril now my doctor has put me on Valsartan. I take Atorvastatin once a day, a Multi Vitamin, Fish oil, and a daily aspirin. What could make the bottom number of my blood pressure not seem to go down as well as heart rate being kind of all over the place, all blood pressure monitoring were done in the morning and at rest. I would like to point my doctor in the right direction because I also am experiencing dizziness as well and he doesn t know what to make of it! Kind Regards, Charles

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Decrease salt consumption. Avoid tea or coffee or alcohol and go for regular morning or evening walk at a moderate pace. And let the drug take control of blood pressure. Usually, the maximum drug effect takes at least ten days to show effect and effect goes on increasing. Anyway, diastolic of 92 or 93 is not so bad.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Varinder Joshi
