What Causes Persistent Fever Despite Taking Medication?

Hi Doctor my wife is having high temparature around 102.4 for around 2 days. she was give Maxtra cold twice a day and an antibiotic cefadur-500 once a day (2 days). but the temperature is not coming down especially in nights can you please suggest some medicine

Thanks for posting on HCM
The treatment of fever depends on the underlying cause.Most causes are infectious.Persistent fever on treatment could mean the germ in cause is not sensitive to the drug or another medical condition is causing it.I will suggest you see the Doctor for a malaria test if in a malaria zone, a blood culture/sensitivity test if persistence of fever.In the meantime, you may try the following
-Continue with your drugs
-Take enough fluids
-Wet compress or towel placement on forehead
-Eat well and balanced.
She may as well need hospitalization and IV treatment if she is not strong enough.This will be decided by your Doctor.
