What Causes Persistent Elevation In BP Level, Dizziness And Fatigue?

I m 37 years old, on 3 blood pressure medications yet my blood pressure is consistently elevated (lower number varies from 95-100); one of my doctors (seen yesterday, right arm BP = 138/98...left arm machine couldn t register a reading?) noticed a trend and recently referred me to see a Cardiologist. I also have family history (maternal side) of high blood pressure and prolapse of right mitrovalve...? I also noticed I get extremely dizzy when lying down (spinning blur sensation) and disoriented when standing. Sometimes I have pain & shortness of breath, but I just chuck it up to gas and/or allergies (use inhaler to relieve shortness of breath). I m also extremely tired with very little energy but I push myself for my kids and work...my appt with Cardiologist is scheduled for February 8th, and I m just wondering why and what s happening...? I was also recently diagnosed as being in menopause (started at age 35, but was always told I m too young!); prior to menopause diagnosis I was diagnosed & treated for PCOS and hypothyroidism, among other issues! Any feedback or suggestions is greatly appreciated...thank you.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have elevation in BP level, dizziness and fatigue. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like middle ear infection , labyrinthitis , heart problem , anxiety disorder , dehydration , diabetes , polycystic kidney disease or gastroenteritis .I would suggest you to consult cardiologist to rule out cardiac problem first . Doctor may order ECG , TMT along with complete blood profile and check vitals . Doctor may prescribe betablockers and diuretic along with other treatment depending upon the diagnosis . Doctor may also refer you to ENT specialist for ear problem like otitis media . For now keep yourself hydrated , take proper rest and avoid bending forward.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
