What Causes Persistent Dry Cough Despite Taking Bactolac And Cough Syrup?
Sir, I am suffering from dry cough for the past 2 days. But I am already under medication for fever since last 5 days. I am taking Tab. Bactoclac 625 mg and Tab. Relent each one tablet in morning and night. Today is the last day. Because of cough I consulted the doctor again two days back and he had added Syb.Tossex 5 ml in the night. But the cough has not reduced. It is severe during bed time. Unable to sleep. What may be the reason? Kindly advice.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns....
As per your complain dry cough can occur due to a number of causes like allergic reaction to dust and pollen, upper respiratory tract infection, acid reflux, side effect of any medicine etc.. As you are already given antibiotic Bactoclav and anti allergic like Relent you should continue taking the medication for atleast one week and also keep away from dust and pollution.. You can also do steam inhalations for relief.. Steroid nasal drops can also help.. In case if there is no improvement in one week consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
