What Causes Persistent Diarrhoea And Nausea While On Low Calorie Diet?

Hi, I ve been on a very low calorie diet for three months. I only average about 500 to 600 calories a day. I have lost from 234lbs down to 204lbs, total of 34lbs. But, now I ve started having diarrhea and nausea, for 5 days now. I drink a lot of water and always have. Why do you think this is going on?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As the intake of solid food is very restricted, one can not expect semi solid stool with just plenty of liquids. The change in gut flora mechanics with impaired reabsorption of bile acids is major thing to consider. My recommendations for better recovery:
- Consume semi solid diet with organic fresh fruits, cereals, pulses
- Fresh yogurt and butter milk
- Pre and pro biotics medicines

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
