Hello,

If you have a mass that appears when you eat, and then disappears, it could be an abdominal hernia, especially if you can return it with your finger and if it comes back when you make an effort such as defecation, for example.

When hernias are small they are benign, and it´s not necessary to operate, but need to be careful if they are clogged or clogged because it may be an indication of urgent surgery.

In that case the pain is acute, intense and may be accompanied by fever, nausea and vomiting, in that case you should see Your doctor to rule out this diagnosis first.

In case it is not a hernia, the entire functioning of the colon should be studied in order to rule out other causes of constipation that are many.

For example common test are stool cultures, microscopic studies, x-rays with contrast and sometimes colonoscopies are indicated, that depends on the doctor`s criteria.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr JOSE MERO SANTANA, General & Family Physician
