What Causes Persistent Ankle Pain Despite Taking Steroids After An Injury?

I have had an MRI of my ankle, tried everything from kt tape, braces, and wraps and still am having pain. The MRI said I had a previous tear injury to my anterior talofibular ligament but is still entact. I did not know there was ever a tear. I m in constant pain everyday. I am an active ballet dancer. I dance almost everyday. There is minimal swelling like a little knot near the pain, I m thinking scar tissue. Currently am taking steroids to see if that will help. Last resort is surgery. I m just tired of the pain and don t know what to do

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

You can consider analgesics like tramadol or aceclofenac for pain rather than steroids. If symptoms persist better to proceed with surgery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
