Hello,

How old are you? How many children do you have? Does your period change? Any heavier bleeding than before?

There are two types of pain during painful menstruation primary and secondary. The primary reason, it occurs in women who have pain before and during menstruation. The secondary reason is, it occurs in women who are experiencing painful right after menstruation. Due to the affecting the uterus or other pelvic organs, such as endometriosis or uterine fibroid.

The contraction of the uterus is to expel the lining of the uterus, and the contraction can cause pain.

The painful menstruation can also be the result of an underlying medical condition such as: endometriosis: a painful condition in which the cell from the lining of the uterus grows in other parts of the body. Fibrosis in the uterus: the growth of the lining of the uterus bigger (tumor) that can cause heavy bleeding and pain. Pelvic inflammatory disease: is an infection of the uterus, fallopian tubes or ovaries often cause by STD that cause inflammation and pain. Adenomyosis the tumor growth in the uterus muscle cause pressure and pain.

You can try using a heating pad on your pelvic area, taking a warm bath, exercise regularly, massage your abdomen, eating healthy food.

For my practice, I give my patient anti-inflammatory medicine such as Ibuprofen, or diclofenac several days before your expected period.

If not improve you should go to see your home doctor for further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
