What Causes Passing Of Stool With White Chunk In Infants?

My 4 month baby passed a stool with white chunks, sort of like cottage cheese, some had yellow stringy mucus, some was green with black specks. Since I do notbreast-feed I know it isn t my blood in his stool. the odor was similar to the snell of someone s breath when they have a sore throat. Justwondering how worried I should be. He has an appointment with his doctor tomorrow for his 4 mo th check up, should I wait or take him in today?

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

His symptoms could be related to a gastro-intestinal infection or a milk formula intolerance. I recommend performing a stool bacterial culture. If he has no fever, an infection would be less likely.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
