What Causes Parageusia, Headache And Dizziness After A Head Injury?

my daughter hit her head on a metal pole yesterday while riding her bike. She did have her helmet on. Last night she had a metal taste in her mouth, and has been complaining of an ongoing headache as well as dizzyness. I m thinking maybe she has a concussion. I heard not much can be done, but i m wondering if I should take her in to the doctor

Thank you for your question

In my opinion it sounds like your daughter is suffering from a concussion

A concussion is a brain bruise that causes headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, foggy thinking, etc.

Most people will recover in several days, but in some it can take weeks to months to recover, although, this is less common.

Some signs that would concern me are vomiting more than once, not acting correctly, weakness or numbness on one side. If she were to experience any of these I would advise you go to the ER

I would take her to a doctor in the next day or two to be evaluated

The best treatment for a concussion in my opinion is brain rest. That means no TV, loud music, texting, etc. Basically, just resting in a nice dark, quiet environment. I would hold her out of school until her symptoms are gone

If she is in sports, no sports until cleared by a doctor
