What Causes Palpitations?

I ve recently (last month or so) started experiencing palpitations. I reported it to my doctor who basically said to let him know if they continue, though we talked a bit about eating right, taking breaks, etc. I take regular reflux medication, so thought I might need to supplement with B12. That helped a bit. Then a week or so later, jitters, anxiety, and general uneasiness. All of this happens at night and wakes me out of my sleep, and has reoccurred quite regularly. It sounds like anxiety attacks. I m 48 and never had this issue before. I m wondering how much to push this issue with my doctor since I m not sure there is much that can be done about it or what tests would even be warranted. I am also looking for any possible relaxation techniques.

Dear at age of 48 years their are many reasons for palpitations . You have not mentioned your sex and menstrual history if any .but if you are female with age 48 with palpitations anxiety sweating etc at night hours while sleeping is very suggestive of menopausal symptoms . Apart from this their are many rhythm disturbance that can cause this.or it may be because of some hormonal imbalance such as hyper or hypothyrodism as well.you need through evaluation to fine out the exact cause and treatment accordingly . Eating right taking breaks and relaxation techniques all will help and is good for you at this stage.but we must be sure that what is exact cause.hope this will help.
