Hi I am a 24y/M who is in relatively good shape. I have Hashimoto s Thyroiditis but also take Focalin XR (2x 20 mg in the AM and 1x 20 mg about 6 hours afterwards). About a month ago (Feb 5th), I got my most recent endocrinology lab results back and i had a TSH or T4 (I cant remember) at 0.14...my nurse practitioner who i saw said she wanted me to lower my levothyroxine dose (I was on 150 mcg 5 days a week, and then took 1.5x 150 mcg on Thursday and also Sunday) down to 150 mcg 6 days a week and 1.5x 150 mcg once a week. I did fine on that for about a week, but during the second week, I noticed sluggishness, weight gain and reverted back to 1.5x 150 mcg twice a week and 150 mcg 5x a week (this was around Feb 20th). I am now feeling like i am experiencing hyperthyroid symptoms 140/89 resting heart rate, heart palpitations, tension in my temples, muscle weakness and tightness (tightness after working out) and shaky breathing. I am upset because I just want to achieve a happy balance again w/ my thyroid as I had from July through February but want to be able to focus (I found this hard on the two week interim lower dosage in February) but also want to exercise without fearing for my life. I feel better overall on the higher dosage, but I just dont like these heart palpitations. Was changing my initial dosage pre-feb 5th a dumb move? Does it take more time for my thyroid to reset? I know medically it s supposed to take 4-6 weeks but about 2 weeks in on both dosages I have felt both extremes possible w/ Hashimoto s...Please any immediate, short-term, and long-term advice would be helpful seeing as I did schedule a second opinion, however, that consultation is on April 1st...
