What Causes Painless Lump In My Inner Thigh?

I am a 52 year old female. I just found a walnut size lump on my upper inner thigh. There is nothing on the surface, it seems to be pretty deep. I am shocked because It either appeared suddenly, or so gradually that I didn't notice it. You can't see it when I am standing, but if I sit cross legged it appears, I would say its closer to my back side, but on the inner thigh as high as you could go without being on my butt. It doesn't hurt, and is fairly firm. I have an appointment with my doctor, but couldn't get in until next tuesday. Any ideas? I am going crazy!

Thank you,
C

Welcome to health care magic.

1.The history of symptoms and localisation suggest the possible cause could be lymph nodal enlargement. Other causes could be venous pathology, lipomas.
2.Lymph nodal enlargement is due to presence of any infection / inflammation , it can be localised or systemic and presence of any malignancy, lymph nodal pathology itself also can cause the condition.
3.In this case i would ask for a x-ray chest and ultrasound abdomen pelvis - for a over view - if any possible causes for the inguinal lumps / nodes.
4.Then inguinal ultrasound scan will assess the nature of the lumps and its source and extensions - if required an FNAC - fine needle aspiration cytology will be helpful.
5.So recommend you to treat any possible abnormality you are aware of and then when your turn comes get the general checkup for further evaluation. Good luck.

Hope i have answered your query,
