What Causes Painfully Swollen Gland Behind The Ear?

Hi, I have a swollen gland or nodes behind right ear that swells and goes in to jaw area, hurt when eating today then goes away and comes back. Took a zpack. This week, dies it normally swell then go normal like that. Do not notice any other symptoms.

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern . The symptoms you mention in query are probably due to lymphadenopathy which could be viral or bacterial. It could be soft tissue swelling as well. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination and doctor may order certain test such as FNAC and prescribe antibiotic course for at least 10 days. Maintain complete hygiene and avoid pricking area with any sharp object. Do betadine gargles , try to keep your ear dry and take proper rest . Also apply warm compresses to swollen glands .
