What Causes Painful Swollen Lump In Armpit?

I have a painful swollen lump in my armpit. Last month, I had one in my other armpit around the time of my monthly cycle. A few days later, it went away. I forgot about it and I am about to start again. Is this related or should I be concerned about seeing a dr. sooner than later?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Painful lumps during monthly menstrual cycle is suggestive of mastalgia is accessory breasts.
Accessory breasts are ectopic breasts which lie in the armpit
They are usually asymptomatic but can become symptomatic during menstrual cycles.
They are also associated with similar diseases of breast like mastitis, benign and malignant tumors.
No treatment is required for accessory breasts.
Conservative treatment may be given for mastalgia.

Thanks and take care
