What Causes Painful Swelling On The Side Of The Nose?

Have unexplained soreness/swelling on left side of my nose. Been to ENT - sinuses swabbed and came back clear. No injury that I know of. She thinks it s in my skin but no lesions, etc. On 10 day doxy and 5 day zpack - zpack helped but finished and swelling /soreness returning.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms can be related to a furuncle which is an infection of the hair follicle. I suggest to continue the use of antibiotics as prescribed by your doctor. I also suggest using painkillers such as Acetaminophen to relieve the pain. If the symptoms continue, an endoscopy and a visit at the ENT specialist should be done for further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
