What Causes Painful Sore Throat?
I am now on day 4 of a extremely painful sore throat. The 1st 2 days i also had a fever body aches and a severe headache. I went to the doctor day 2 and they diagnosed me with strep throat without doung the throat swab. I was prescribed penicillin. I went back to the doctor today as the pain has gotten worse. They did a throat swab that was negative for strep and a blood test that was negative for mono. The dr said it must just be viral and changed my antibiotic. I have never experienced a sore throat like this.

Throat swab negative, so no need to much worry
Drink lots of water....
Complete the course of prescribed antibiotic
If posterior pharynx examination shows much congestion than betamethasone short term steroid course can be prescribed for 5 days
Diluted betardine gargle if needed can be prescribed
Take one tsp turmeric powder with milk daily
Take care
Consult otorhinolaryngologist for examination and discuss all these
