Dear,

Shingles also called Herpes Zoster is caused by the Varicella-Zoster virus, the same virus that causes chickenpox. after causing chicken pox, the virus lies latent in the spinal cord and when the virus reactivate it causes shingles.

This condition is very painful and the person will have small blisters over the skin in a band form .

the turning of lesions black means it is in the healing phase.
Management includes , antiviral medicines and pain killers for pain management.
you cane take ibuprofen / paracetamol thrice a day, but before taking any more potent pain killer consult your doctor....
