Hi..
Thanks for the query..
As per your symptoms you are suffering from
Geographic tongue in which there is formation of smooth red patches over the tongue with loss of papilla that contains
taste buds..
This patch seems to change its location on tongue and can seem to appear on different places on tongue.
It is not a harmful condition but can at times cause pain and burning sensation during eating anything spicy, hot, acidic or salty..
The exact cause of Geographic tongue is still unknown and at times some co-relation is seen as it can be seen in patients with some skin disease like
Psoriasis but the exact evidence is not present..
As far as treatment is concerned there is no specific treatment modality and the treatment is purely symptomatic..
In case of pain and discomfort OTC painkiller like
Ibuprofen or Tylenol can be taken..
Mouthrinses containing
steroids and antihistamines can be helpful..
You can apply steroid and numbing agent containing ointment like Kenalog in Orabase for relief if there is burning or pain due to inflammation..
Sucking ice pops and cold water rinses can help..
Hope this helps..
Thanks and regards..
