What Causes Painful Lump Behind The Ear?
My niece who is otherwise healthy began using a vapor saturday and quickly noticed a bump behind her ear. We realized a few hours ago that she may be having a reaction to it. She is in so much pain now she cannot even sleep. Will the reaction wear off, she has not vaped since we figured this out. But she does not have ins so i wonder if the pain will subside without meds.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your niece has symptoms of painful lump behind the ear which is painful. Well there can be many reasons for lump behind the ear. In your case it seems to me that the lump is Mastoiditis. Sometimes you develop an ear infection and don’t get treatment, you may develop a more serious infection of the ear called mastoiditis. This infection develops in the bony protrusion behind the ear, which is called the mastoid. Need not to worry. Avoid touching or pricking area with any sharp object. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist without any delay . Doctor may order CT scan , MRI or blood test to confirm the diagnosis and rule out conditions like lipoma and lymphadenopathy. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics orally or administer it intravenously .
