What Causes Painful Ears When Swallowing?

I don't feel sick at all, no sore throat, no fever, nothing like that. But all the sudden when I swallow my right ears HURTS inside. It almost feels like when I swallow there is a ball of some kind in the side of my head that is attached to the inside of my ear that moves , but only when I swallow. My throat isn't swollen or irritated at all. I do not have a sinus infection. No sickness other than this sudden pain in my ear. Any suggestions as to what it might be?? It just started about half an hour ago while I was watching t.v. I am completely at a loss.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have painful ears when swallowing which is due to Eustachian tube dysfunction. It could be due to ear wax accumulation, ear infection and otitis media. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist again for proper examination. Doctor may clean the ear to remove ear wax or prescribe antibiotics for at least 10 days along with decongestants. Doctor should also give proper treatment for cold and flu , because these can be contributing factors in causing ear infection. Keep you ears dry , cover them while bathing and keep warm compresses on external ear 2-3 times a day , it will evaporate water from ear .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
