What Causes Painful Dryness And Peeling Of Lips Along With Discoloration?

About 2 weeks ago my lips started to get really dry and peeling. It became very painful and then they completely turned black. No I m starting to get tiny pimps. I ve used several different chap sticks and the only thing that is working is carmex and vaseline

Hello,

I can understand your concern for painful dryness and peeling of lips along with discoloration. Painful dryness and peeling of lips along with discoloration can be because of various reasons. It is frequently seen in case if the facial area is exposed to external cold environment or due to nutritional deficiency or due to poor intake of liquids.
In my patients with painful dryness and peeling of lips I recommend to protect from external cold environment. It is very beneficial to take good nutritious diet containing lot of fruits and especially vitamin C containing fruits. I also suggest my patients to use lip balm containing moisturizing factors and sunscreen factors which can be used for multiple times a day. You can discuss further with a dermatologist.
