What Causes Painful Bumps On The Armpits With Redness?

Hi, I have recently noticed small bumps in my armpit area. The bumps have been appearing then disappearing after a couple days. They only appear one at a time and are about 1 cm in size. They are painful, but skin colored not red. What could this be?
