What Causes Painful Bump On The Foot?
A week ago I got a painful bump on the outside ridge of my foot. It came up suddenly last Monday morning after I got to work & it became more painful as the day went on. I wore flip flops that weekend before and went swimming in the river but I don t remember stepping on anything sharp. It lasted a few days then went down. It came back again Sunday, it is painful, & after opening it up pus comes out.

The initial injury (that gone unnoticed) might have caused a contusion there, that now has got infected. As there is pus discharge, this will need antibiotic treatment, and sometimes incision and drainage. Your doctor will guide in this. Meanwhile, keep the wound clean and apply antibiotic like Mupirocin there. Take Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen tablet for pain.
