What Causes Painful And Swollen Lymph Nodes?

Hi: I ve been having major swelling and pain associated with my lymph glands. I ve been to my specialist (I have already been diagnosed with Sjögren s syndrome appr. 10 years ago) and have been to Mayo Clinic for diagnosist testing last year with no results other than they believe I m in the early stages of another auto immune disease. That s my background which leads to this question. This week I ve been experiencing severe pain in spleen and into my rib and other lymph glands, I am having severe night sweats, not sleeping well and when I have the sharpest pain in my spleen, I seem to get very nauseated - should I be concerned? The severe pain and extreme nausea has been this week. Thank you

Oncologist 's  Response
Hi,

Painful and swollen lymph nodes can be due to infection or cancer.

Would advise you to take antibiotic and then if it persists do a biopsy test.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Monish De,
Oncologist
