What Causes Pain While Coughing Or Sneezing After A Chest Injury?
Hello, Last Friday I fell getting out of a bathtub. I fell so that my thumb joint jammed into my left side below my breast. I can breath with no pain, if I cough or sneeze there is some pain but getting into and out of seating positions is still as painful as the day it happened. It has been a week now should I see a Dr and get X-rays or does it sound more like bruising instead of a break.
I assume, you are asking about the chest pain since the fall. it can be rib cage bruise or fracture , depending on the impact of injury. In either case , it can take 2-3 weeks for pain to resolve or improve. You can get an X - Ray to confirm a fracture of a rib , but does not make much difference in management. I suggest you take anti inflammatory like ibuprofen or Advil. If pain is intolerable, can see your doctor for an evaluation or prescription pain medication .
