What Causes Pain Under The Left Hand Index Finger?

I have pian in my left hand right under my index finger in the meaty part of my hand and a little between the middle knuckle and my palm. I can make a fist but not get that finger all the way to my palm like the rest. I can place my hand flat but not put pressure on that finger. Also there is some brushing in the meaty part on my hand only. I ve hurt a little Monday and it hurts more today. It feels better when I soaked it in hot water. Please advise I f it might be pulled muscles or may be just a bruise?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. It can be rheumatoid arthritis. Consult rheumatologist and have RA factor done. You can start taking NSAID and apply warphomantation of fingers and palm. You may apply analgesic ointment externaly. It is not pulled muscle or bruise. There in no evidence of external injury or history of trauma.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ashok Kumar Dash
