What Causes Pain Under The Breast Bone?

Hi - I have a strong but dull pain at the bottom of my breast bone. The pain is greater after I eat. It causes a lot of burps, though not a lot of intestinal gas. I am a 70 year old female, type 2 diabetes controlled with insulin, my last A1C was 6.2. I also have Multiple Myeloma (diagnosed in late 2012) and am on Darzalex, Velcade and dexamethasone. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) is more likely.
GERD is due to laxity of gastroesophageal sphincter. Because of this, the acid of the stomach tends to come up in the esophagus and cause burping, chest pain, tightness etc.
Chemotherapy drugs and oral steroids (dexomethasone) can also worsen GERD.
So take pantoprazole and levosulperide combination twice daily on empty stomach.
Avoid hot and spicy food. Avoid large meals, instead take frequent small meals.
Go for walking after meals.
Avoid stress and tension, be relax and calm.
Don't worry, you will be alright with all these.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
