Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For four weeks I have had a stabbing pain under my lower left ribcage which radiates around toward my back. My PCP thought it my be diverticulitis, but the gastroenterologist I saw feels it is pleuresy. Is it possible to have pleures for four weeks? No blood in the stool, no runny stools, no fever. Moderately severe pain when I take a deep breath.
Hello, It can be chest infection with pleural effusion. I would recommend you to get chest x ray and if it is showing any effusion than you need to take antibiotics. Also you can take tablet Brufen 400 mg slowly. If there is no chest infection than ultrasound can guide us if there is any abnormality in side abdomen like Diverticulitis. I hope this answer will be useful for you. Let me know if there is any other followup questions. thanks
