What Causes Pain Under Left Scapula, Weakness And Fatigue?

My 88-year-old father is complaining of a pain under his left scapula, as well as being fatigued and feeling weak. He had valve replacement, bypass and pacemaker insert 6 years ago. We took him to a urologist 3 days ago because he was urinating frequently and complained of not feeling well. They did not detect a UTI with the in-office exam but they were sending his sample out to the lab. Should we be concerned about heart attack or other problem?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Yes, with his history of heart disease, he should definitely see his doctor for evaluation of his heart. Pain in the area of the scapula and fatigue can be signs of heart disease.
Please get him to his cardiologist as soon as possible or to emergency if the pain is severe or persistent.
Regards,
Dr. Robinson
