Hi,

Pain and discomfort in the thyroid cartilage (also known as Adam's apple) during swallowing could be due to several reasons. One possibility is that you may have an infection or inflammation in the throat or larynx, such as laryngitis or pharyngitis, which can cause pain and difficulty swallowing. Another possibility is that you may have a thyroid nodule or cyst that is pressing against the cartilage, causing pain and discomfort.

Less commonly, pain and clicking in the thyroid cartilage while swallowing could be a sign of a more serious condition, such as thyroid cancer or an autoimmune disorder like Hashimoto's thyroiditis.

It's important to see a healthcare provider if you are experiencing pain and discomfort in the thyroid cartilage. Your healthcare provider can perform a physical exam and any necessary tests, such as an ultrasound or biopsy, to determine the underlying cause and provide appropriate treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
