What Causes Pain On The Right Side Of The Navel?

Hi, I ve been experiencing pain 2.5 inches to the right of my belly button and up 0.5 of an inch for about 5 months now. Its constant mild pain like trapped wind which turns into a sharp pain when I curl up into a ball and when I stretch tall, eat spicy food or drink alcohol on an empty stomach. I don t have IBS. I was diagnosed with H Pyori and gastritis about 4 years ago. I was given antibiotics and PPI lanzoprasole which cured it. I was recently tested to see if the H Pyori had returned by providing a stool sample thankfully this came back negative. I m not passing blood in my stool either although these are paler in colour than usual. I ve got an appointment to see my GP but this isn t for another 4 weeks. I m hoping it may be just an ulcer due to stress. My partner just went through 9 months of cancer scare due to a negative smear test which I self medicated with alcohol.... im cutrently managing the pain with over the counter PPI which is taking the edge off. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Chris

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
I have gone through your query and understand your concern.

From the description you gave it seems to me you have duodenal ulcer.
I advice you to take consultation of gastroenterologist in that matter.
Endoscopy may be required.
USG abdo needed to be done to rule out other causes of abdominal pain.
Any form of malabsorption can cause pale stool so stool tests is also advised.
PPIs like omeprazole once a day has to be taken for minimum 1 montn.
Avoid eating anything which is hot, spicy, alcoholic or caffeinated.Avoid NSAIDs drugs.
Avoid stress, physical and mental. Can practice yoga and meditation to destress yourself.Stress is an important factor in causing ulcers.

Hope I answered your query.
Wish you good health.

Thanks and regards.
