Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I woke up two mornings ago and could barely walk as I have serious pain in the inside of my left ankle. I can t walk on it and it is tender to touch it. It feels like the area is bruised as well. I have movement of the ankle both downwards, to the left but is painful when I try to lift my toes towards me and also turn the ankle to the right. I have sprained my left ankle about 14 months ago but it healed with staying off of it and advil, and ice. I went to a doctor and he has given me celebrex but it isn t helping and told me to get an xray. What is going on with my ankle. Is there anything I can do to be able to put pressure on it? I am 42 years old, weigh 200 lbs and am 5 ft 10 inches tall
The pain in the ankle can be related to a many medical conditions. If you did not have any injury, other possible causes can be gout or arthritis. I suggest to do: - An X-ray of the ankle - Uric acid blood levels - Rheumatoid factor level Meanwhile, I suggest to use painkillers for the pain such as Ibuprofen.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
