What Causes Pain In Upper Abdomen Just Under Sternum?

I am 37 years old and have suffered from severe stomach ache since I was a child. During all my hospital visits, the stool tests turned up something for which I was given medication, but the aches continued. in 1997 I experimented on some antibiotics and Amoxicillin helped relieve the stomach ache. From then onwards I started taking Amoxicillin each time I had a crisis. In 2007, I had a medical emergency that felt like a heart attack. I rushed to the hospital and for 3 days doctors did not diagnose what was wrong with my heart though my heartbeat was highly irregular. Eventually I was discharged but I refused to leave the hospital because the stomach ache was excruciatingly painful. The doctors performed endoscopy on me and found that I had gastric ulcer. They didn t say how serious it was but they gave me a combination of drugs and I immediately felt great relieve for the first time in many years. A few years later, the aches started again and antacids only gave relief for a few hours, so I returned to Amoxicillin. Last year, I had a serious crisis and Amoxicillin did not work, so I did some research online and found that there is a bacterial infection called H. Pylori, which causes gastric ulcer. I took treatment for H. pylori and had relief as long as I took the drugs. I stopped taking the drugs after 2 weeks and the aches returned even stronger. I researched and found an alternative treatment for H. pylori in cases of resistance to the first treatment and took it. The aches subsided again, but only as long as I was on medication. Then I started looking at other possible reasons for the aches, even though it was concentrated in the stomach area and not below. I took a dewormer and Entamizole DS. I had relief for about 1 month, then the aches returned. It is so bad I feel pain in other parts of my abdomen too, sometimes getting to my head. In addition to the stomach ache, there is a sharp pain in my lower left abdomen like a needle piercing me. There is also pain in my upper middle abdomen just below my sternum. It s very painful lifting my left arm above my head, and I have a hollow feeling in my stomach area. I tried Omeprazole but it did not work, so I am back on the following combination: Amoxicillin, Levofloxacin, Clarithromycin and Omeprazole. I am also taking Turmeric powder. I fear that the relief I now feel may only last as long as the drugs I am taking. Doctors now attribute my symptoms to gastric and often dismiss me with a prescription of antacids and proton pump inhibitors but these obviously do not help long term. This stomach ache has really affected my life. It gets worse when I sit down to study or when I lie down to sleep. I feel it less when I am up and about. I am at a loss what to do next, and would very much appreciate your advice. Thank you.

Hello
I appreciate your concern
Looking at your detailed history you might be having fissure or fistula in anus and acid peptic disease.
I would like further information to help you better like
relevant medical history
have you taken any medicines or adulterated good
Since how long you have this problem?
have you seen bleeding with stool?

In my opinion you should consult your doctor for per rectal examination and a battery of investigations like blood for hemoglobin, CBC liver function test, and stool test

You may require a course of antibiotics under supervision of your doctor
Meanwhile please follow these guidelines
Have plenty of dietary fibers fresh fruits and vegetables
Have lots of fluids like fruit juices and ORS solutions
Avoid smoking and alcohol
sitz bath will definitely help you
Avoid constipation by taking stool softening agent like liquid paraffin
I would advise you to take anti acidity medicines like pantoprazole or rabeprazole with antacids
