My throat hurts to the touch on the outside. It doesn't hurt to swallow though. This started last night while I was drinking Diet Coke. A couple weeks ago I also experienced throat soreness while drinking an excess of diet Coke which turned into the flu and eventually 2 ear infections. Not sure if any of this is related, but I've never experienced pain on the outside of my throat before.
Understanding your concern. Pain in throat is due to infection of the tonsil or pharynx, ulceration and respiratory tract infection. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and get complete examination of blood count along with swab and sputum test. Start treatment after proper prescription. Apply humidifiers in room. Do warm saline gargles and You should take green tea on daily basis in morning. Avoid cold beverages such as diet coke.
