What Causes Pain In The Vagina And Painful Urination?

Hi. My 64 year old friend is having pain inside her vagina, making it very difficult to walk and urination is very painful. She tried looking inside for a bump or lesion (that is what it feels like is inside), but cannot see it because it is too far up inside the vagina. She put a warm wash cloth over the area and there was very light/pinkish blood on the cloth. Has had no intercourse in many years and has not had a period in 20 years. Is there a need to go to the emergency room? She is in pain and concerned. I am trying to help.

Hi, I think she should go for a pelvic examination by a gynecologist to rule out any cervical pathology or vaginal infection. Get a ultrasound done to see the endometrial thickness. If it is more than 4 mm, she may need an endometrial biopsy to rule out endometrial carcinoma. Also get her urine checked for routine and microscopy and a culture. It can be due to some urine infections.
