What Causes Pain In The Tailbone After An Injury?

I have a previous tailbone fracture when I was a teen and fell backwards roller skating. I have had since then, tailbone pain especially when getting up from a sitting a position and tailbone/lower back pain periodically. As I have gotten older recently I am having tailbone pain when I sit too long, hips hurt when I sleep and tailbone pain. I am now 46.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Possible inflammation over the previously injured tailbone most likely.

An MRI of the tailbone would be best revealing the update of internal insult with further guidelines of management.

Till that time, local application of analgesic spray and intake of good analgesia with anti-inflammatory action as aceclofenac or else will help a lot.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
