What Causes Pain In The Side Of The Head While Opening The Mouth Or Chewing?

Hello. Less than 24 hours ago I received a blow to the shoulder and head from a downhill biking accident. I think I had a lacerated scalp because it was bleeding pretty bad, but now when ever I open my jaw or chew the side of my head that I hit hurts.

Hello and Welcome to Healthcare magic forums.
From your description its clear that you have a dislocation in your Tempero-mandibular joint(which are the joints beneath your ear, where your jaw is attached to head and helps the opening and closing of mouth)
My advice is to visit an Ortho doctor and let him take an X ray.If dislocation is present,it can be corrected by a simple procedure.
Have a good day.
