What Causes Pain In The Shoulders And The Hips?

Is there any kind of joint disease? I have had left knee surgery(1993) for a torn minscus, and both knees bother me now. I work out prob about 5x a week. I also had rt elbow surgery (2007) tendonitis. Which seems to be fine now. My left elbow has the same prob to which I tried PRP therapy. It has only worked soso. I had hip surgery (2013) for a labral repair, there apparently was deterioration. It is better, but will still act up. My c5 and c6 are messed up as well. And occasionally when lifting both my shoulders will hurt. My left hip/butt region currently are in pain. Was just wondering if all these were tied together or just old age and use.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted the history about an old patient having affection and surgeries of various joints as you have mentioned in details including meniscial tear of left knee in 1993, right elbow tendinitis surgery in 2007, Labral repair of hip in 2013 and now shoulder pains, both hip pains.
Surely this may be related to old age but involvement of multiple joints
needs to be assessed taking into consideration of various problems as you have mentioned.
I would advise you teh following in such a situation:
Consult an Orthopedic Surgeon for proper clinical evaluation of all the joints, examination and MRI studies.
Also to go for specific blood tests like that for Rheumatoid factors, Autoimmune disease of joints and their supporting structures.
This will surely help to get a proper diagnosis and proper management.
Physiotherapist plays an important role in such problems as maintaining and equalizing the tones of muscles, maintaining the
movements of the joints is very important for success of any therapy.
Proper usage of anti-inflammatory medications that can be taken for a long time , oral steroid in tapering dosages can help.
Multivitamins, minerals, trace elements play as antioxidants and does help.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
