What Causes Pain In The Shoulder After An Injury?

I fell in my driveway on the concrete on my right side. I hit hard on my right shoulder, bruised my ribs and feels like I have a bubble that s painful in my right side. I went to ER and they did not do X-rays. Should I be concern of broken ribs? When I fell on my shoulder I feel like I may have strained my back shoulder and chest muscles? Should I go back to ER and demand X-rays. I have been taking Ibuprofen for the last three days once a day.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your history, it may be due to blunt trauma.

For pain, you can take tab. motrin. Apply diclofenac gel with heat pads.

Please let me know do you have decreased shoulder movements, shoulder swelling, breathing difficulties?

In that case, I would suggest you do x-ray shoulder joint after orthopedic consultation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
