What Causes Pain In The Rib Cage On The Right Side?

I HAVE PAIN ON MY RIGHT SIDE, IN MY RIB CAGE AREA. HAS BEEN BOTHERING ME FOR PROBABLY 2 1/2 TO 3YRS. AT TIMES IT S WORSE THAN OTHER S, BUT HEAR RECENTLY IT HAS STARTED HURTING WORSE AND PROGRESSED AROUND TO MY SPINE AND CHEST AREA. IT FEELS LIKE WHEN SOMEONE HAS BEEN WORKING OUT OR DOING SOMETHING DIFFERENT, THE SORENESS AND ACHING THAT GOES WITH THAT. I HURT MY RIBS SEVERAL YEARS AGO, DID NOT GO TO DOCTOR, NOT SURE IF THEY WERE BROKE OR BADLY BRUISED. HAD ALOT OF PAIN BUT FINALLY HEALED. I VE HAD CT SCAN WITH CONTRAST, THEN HAD NUCLEAR GALL BLADDER TEST THESE SHOWED OK. ANOTHER DR. TOLD ME IT WAS PAINFUL RIB SYNDROME, I LOOKED AT HIM FUNNY. JUST DON T KNOW WHAT IT IS OR WHAT TO DO.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a costochondritis.

As of now you can use analgesics/anti inflammatory combination like aceclofenac/seratiopeptdase for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
