What Causes Pain In The Middle Back?

My husband has a pain in his middle back just under the shoulder blade half way from his spine. He has a history of multiple myeloma with a second stem cell transplant May 2, 2017. The pain is about a 7-8 level. The ER diagnosed a pulled muscle, gave him an injection of hydromorphone and sent him home with added valium to his regimen. After the hydromorphone wore off, the pain is back and still there after 3 days. Is there a possibility of tissue cancer in this area?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
In muscle pull when severe, pain takes a week to subside completely you can continue thr treatment offered & wait for a week.,Still X Ray or MRI of sback can find/ exclude the possibility.
The investigation & consultation must be done if-
- If the pain does not heal in 7 days,
- The area of pain becomes numb,
- walking/ moving leg becomes difficult.
Thanks
