What Causes Pain In The Lower Back On The Left Side?

I have had lower back pain on mostly left side since Tues. evening. It went away with aspirin until last night. Woke up at 3 and aspirin didn t help. I do frequently get back pain and it seems to be muscle related, but this time it seems more internal and not related to movement. Not sure what to do. I am 66 years old and otherwise in good health as far as I know. Thanks

Oncologist 's  Response
Hello,

Kidney problems. The kidneys are located on either side of the spine, under the ribcage. The right kidney hangs a little lower than the left, making it even more likely to cause lower back pain if it's infected, irritated, or inflamed. Common kidney problems include kidney stones and kidney infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Esmeralda Sera, Oncologist
