Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In The Lower Abdomen On The Left Side?
Hello I am 57 and post menopausal. I have had many UTIs and have had an increase since menopause set in. I started taking hrt in early August with a UTI prophylactic for 90 days and my symptoms are much better. I still have bloating, urgency to pee and feel pressure. Early this week I began getting dull and sharp pains in the lower left side of my abdomen. I have had diahorrea since last Monday and my stool is not watery but is thin and some flots and some does not. I normally go 3x per week but now it s many times per day. The pain is relieved with urination in the front of my abdomen. My left side pain comes and goes and is uncomfortable. I am not hungry maybe because I am concerned. Your thoughts? Thanks.
You may have to rule out left ureteric caliculi, left ovarian torsion or PID or colitis etc.
Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Drink plenty of water and liquids. Please consult your physician he will advice urine examination and ultrasound abdomen and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
