What Causes Pain In The Legs And Swelling Around The Ankles?

My legs always ache and I have swollen ankles and by the end of the day, swollen legs. It hurts for my pedicure lady to massage my legs even lightly. It always hurts when someone presses on my legs such as when the doctor checks for pulse in my ankles. Sometimes I have tingling or my feet are slightly numb. They even hurt ache when I am laying down.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Possible issue with venous return, cardiac disorder, liver or other systemic issue more likely. A Doppler ultrasound for the venous system, basic lab tests, 2D echo for cardiac and X-ray chest for pulmonary evaluation will give definite diagnosis and further management guidelines.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel, General & Family Physician
