What Causes Pain In The Left Hand?

I have a pain in my left hand and I know that is a sign of a heart attack but I recently went to the hospital and had a ecg test and they checked my blood pressure and said everything is normal. The pain is like a numb pain from the elbow down but I don t have a pain in my chest so I don t think it s heart related but I m really worried and I also think I suffer from anxiety

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The pain related to heart attack, or anginal pain is usually fairly severe, is felt in the left pectoral region, front of neck, left shoulder, and may radiate from inner side of the arm up to the little finger. This comes in episodes. Plus there is a choking sensation in the chest. It is not necessary that all the characteristics are always present. But a dull or numb pain is most unlikely to be due to the problem related to the heart. Still if it does persist, do consult your doctor as a precaution. Sometimes, ECG does not detect any minor problems.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Prabhakar Laxman Jathar
