What Causes Pain In The Knees?

I had infection in the bone I was told, five years after a metal plate was put in my ankle. I had to get the plate out and get antibiotics via a drip for two weeks b4 I was clear. Can this come back and the pain be somewhere else, my knee on the same leg is now very sore like it was the last time? The last operation was eight years ago.

Hi.

Well, pain in knee may or may not be related to the previous infection.Knee pain can occur due to causes like over exertion, ageing while can also be due to certain disorders like Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury, torn meniscus, knee bursitis, tendinitis, arthritis, gout, infections etc..

I would suggest you to consult an Orthopedician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray, MRI Scan, blood test etc can be done to rule out the exact cause of the pain and treatment can be done accordingly.

As of now you can take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, muscle relaxant like Chlorzoxasone, apply an analgesic gel over the knees and put knee braces. Limit exertion as it can add up to pain..

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
