What Causes Pain In The Inner Skin Of The Knees Post A Total Replacement
On Feb 8th I had a total knee replacement. I am doing very well except for one thing. I have pain on the surface of my skin on the inner aspect of my knee and below the knee. My physical therapist has identified the area as controlled by the saphanous nerve and I have some exercise to do to calm the nerve. What do you think is the reason that this is happening? Some of my friends who have had this surgery have not had this result.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have pain in the inner skin of the knees post a total replacement . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like ACL injury , torn meniscus , knee bursitis , patellar tendinitis or arthritis., But in your case the symptoms are probably due to post surgery complication , so consult your surgeon and discuss the condition . I would suggest you to take proper rest , apply warm compresses several times a day , take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain and do gentle massage with almond oil . Consult orthopedic surgeon if condition doesn't get better . Doctor may order blood test , CT scan , MRI along with physical examination . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant , anti inflammatory , methotrexate along with physical therapy . Doctor may also consider resurgery.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
