What Causes Pain In The Groin Area?

Hi I m a healthy 53 yr old female. Two months ago I started getting pain on my left groin area. Had a Pap smear rectal exam all normal. Went to my Gi dr last Friday. She told me to get a colonoscopy. She also wants bloodwork some. Been feeling better lately little pain just here and there mostly. Very afraid of having complications from colonoscopy! Should I still do it?

Hello,

As the pap smear and rectal examination showed nothing, and the pain is intermittent, your doctor wants to make sure if it has anything to do with the GI (gastrointestinal) system; as apart from the pain, there are no other symptoms which are observed in some individuals and to rule out that he has suggested you go for colonoscopy.

I would suggest you follow your doctor’s advice on this and if you have doubts about the procedure you can always talk to your doctor about it.

She will explain to you everything related to colonoscopy and before that some blood work must be done and that's what she has adviced you to do.

If you still feel doubtful then you can always take a second opinion from another GI specialist on this rather than worrying as colonoscopy is like any another diagnostic procedure which is done by experienced doctors.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
